It's the 22nd century, and the Third World War (2099-2126) has left Earth in ruins—though at least nobody used nukes. Traditional powers like England, France, and China managed to survive, but they're struggling to rebuild their influence. Meanwhile, new players have emerged from the wreckage: the Sacred Republique of Mumna, the Poseidon Organization, and others looking to fill the power vacuum. Enter Deunan Knute and Briareos Hecatonchires, two ex-L.A. SWAT operatives scraping by in the devastated wasteland. They catch the attention of a mysterious young woman named Hitomi, who offers them a shot at a better life—a chance to join Olympus, a gleaming utopian city that's become the world's dominant force and essentially dictates the new global order. The two accept and get recruited into ESWAT, an elite task force responsible for keeping Olympus safe from terrorists and protecting its international interests. From there, they're pulled into a web of conspiracies and international intrigue, crossing paths with various factions all scheming against Olympus in different ways.
