Higuchi Shinji is best known as one of the four founders of Daicon Films, which evolved into the legendary studio Gainax. He wore multiple hats on Neon Genesis Evangelion—working as a writer, assistant director, and storyboarder—and the series' protagonist Ikari Shinji is actually named after him.
