Tom Kenny was born July 13, 1962, in East Syracuse, New York. He's best known as the voice of SpongeBob SquarePants—not just the title character, but also the narrator, Gary, and plenty of other voices throughout the series.
Before becoming a household name in animation, Kenny built his comedy chops doing stand-up alongside performers like Wendell E. Wild Jr. and Barry Crimmons. That led to sketch comedy work on HBO's Mr. Show and the short-lived Fox series The Edge, where he met writer and actress Jill Talley. They eventually married.
Beyond SpongeBob, Kenny's lent his voice to shows like Out of Jimmy's Head and hosts Funday Night at the Movies on TCM, a program aimed at getting kids interested in classic films. He's remained close friends with fellow voice actors Bill Fagerbakke and Clancy Brown, both of whom have worked extensively in animation as well.
