Take
Based in Tokyo, Take picked up a pencil practically as soon as she could hold one—around 3 or 4 years old. School wasn't really her thing, but art was always her strength; teachers and classmates constantly praised her drawings. She started making art for the people around her because it felt meaningful to create something someone actually wanted. By the time she graduated elementary school, she'd already made up her mind: "I'm going to do something with painting."
In her mid-teens, she found her way onto oekaki boards online and started posting work there. An editor at Kodansha noticed her stuff when she was 17, leading to her professional debut illustrating the first book in Niso Isin's Zaregoto light novel series.
Her go-to tools are Adobe Illustrator, though she'll pull in Photoshop or Paint Tool SAI when the project calls for it. She's clearly influenced by the classics—Osamu Tezuka, Studio Ghibli, Tatsunoko Production, and character designer Akiman all left their mark on her style.
