Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day
Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai.
Jinta Yadomi's been living like a hermit, ditching school to stay home and lose himself in video games. Then one sweltering summer day, his childhood friend Meiko "Menma" Honma shows up out of nowhere, bugging him about some wish she can't remember. He blows her off, which irritates her—though honestly, he doesn't really care. The thing is, Menma died years ago. At first Jinta figures he's just hallucinating from the heat, but eventually he has to accept that he's actually seeing Menma's ghost. After her death, Jinta and his group of childhood friends had drifted apart, but now they're pulled back together with a mission: help Menma's spirit find peace. As they're forced to confront all the pain and guilt they've been carrying, they'll have to figure out if they can find the strength to help Menma move on—and maybe even help themselves in the process.
