Synopsis

Most gods in heaven want nothing to do with Xie Lian, the forgotten god—except Heavenly Emperor Jun Wu, who still favors him. Not that it helps much. Xie Lian's luck is abysmal, and now the heavenly realm is buzzing with suspicion that his recent companion is none other than Hua Cheng, the dreaded Ghost King. But Xie Lian doesn't care what they think. He's holding onto a promise Hua Cheng made: next time they meet, he'll show his true form. Things get complicated when Jun Wu brings urgent news. A god's distress signal came from the Ghost City—the most powerful place in the entire ghost realm, where Hua Cheng is basically the only rule that matters. Since Xie Lian has no fear of walking into Hua Cheng's domain, he heads straight there to find the missing god. And there's Hua Cheng, waiting for him. He's the most terrifying being across all three realms. But the moment Xie Lian appears, his arrogance just crumbles. Without explaining why, Hua Cheng uses every power and resource at his disposal to undo the weight of Xie Lian's endless misfortune.
