Seiichi Yukimura is Rikkai Dai's captain and a third year. He and vice captain Genichirou Sanada, along with regular Renji Yanagi, are called the Three Demons—all three made the regulars as first years, which was basically unheard of at the school.
His reputation precedes him. Fans and even rival teams consider him the strongest junior player in Japan, arguably matching or surpassing Seigaku's captain Kunimitsu Tezuka. Creator Takeshi Konomi has stated that Yukimura is, in his view, the best player in the entire series. According to Shusuke Fuji, he's achieved the legendary Muga no Kyouchi state—perfect mental clarity—though he never actually uses it in the main story.
That said, Yukimura spent time hospitalized before the current school year, diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome. He underwent successful surgery the day Rikkai lost the Kanto Finals to Seigaku, but he managed to recover and return for the National Tournament.
Personality-wise, he's got a softer, almost delicate appearance that completely clashes with his steel-hard willpower and brutally honest demeanor on court. Off the court, though? He's genuinely kind and friendly—just still carrying that natural pride and dignity.
As a player, Yukimura is an all-rounder without a signature technique, which somehow makes him even more dangerous. His real weapon is triggering yips in opponents—a phenomenon Kintaro Tooyama once described perfectly: no matter how you hit the ball, Yukimura returns it with ease. That certainty eats at your mind until you stop thinking, stop moving, and eventually lose sensation, sight, and sound. It's brutal. He'd never lost a single game before the nationals, earning him the nickname "Child of God Yukimura."
During the National Tournament finals, he faced Echizen Ryoma in singles 1. Even while channeling Muga no Kyouchi, he returned every unreturnable move Echizen threw at him. But Echizen eventually reached something beyond—the Pinnacle of Perfection—and that's what finally ended Yukimura's streak.
In New Prince of Tennis, he's shown up again in selection matches against Sanada, where his yips tennis proved just as dominant, winning a 7-1 tiebreak.
