Kousuke rounds out Ataru and Hokuto's troublemaking trio—the three of them are basically inseparable. Like most of the male cast, he's head over heels for Lum and spends a fair amount of energy trying to keep Ataru's hands off her, convinced he's protecting her from his friend's sketchy intentions. As the series goes on, though, Kousuke and Hokuto increasingly become targets of the chaos themselves rather than bystanders. In the anime adaptation, he basically gets sidelined; his character moments get handed off to Megane or Perm instead.
