Kiminobu Kogure is Shohoku's vice-captain and one of the team's most steady presences. He's been around since day one alongside Akagi—literally the only two players who've stuck with the team for all three years. Mitsui bailed early on, and plenty of others couldn't handle Akagi's brutal training demands, but Kogure stayed. He's known for being genuinely kind and understanding, always working with Miyagi and Ayako to help Hanamichi reach his potential. You'll rarely catch him without his glasses, which is why Sakuragi won't stop calling him "Megane-kun."
What's interesting about Kogure is the contrast. He's gentle and empathic most of the time, but he's got serious backbone when it matters. During the infamous gym fight with Mitsui, he took two slaps and cruel insults without even flinching—showed some real willpower there.
On the court, he doesn't see a ton of playing time, but he's the guy coaches know they can rely on. He's sharp tactically, a decent shooter, and he brings valuable experience the moment he checks in. Most of the starters know they might get subbed out for him. Fans still remember him nailing a crucial three-pointer against Ryonan at a key moment.
