Sola-Ui comes from a prominent magical family—her father heads the spiritual evocation division at the Clock Tower. Her older brother inherited the family's magic crest but basically flopped as a mage, so to save face, her family arranged her engagement to the celebrated Lord El-Melloi, Kayneth Archibald.
She and Kayneth clearly don't get along. In Fate/Zero, while he serves as Lancer's Master, Sola-Ui is actually the one feeding the Servant magical energy—though Kayneth doesn't seem to fully grasp this dynamic. She's vocal about her disdain for his approach, calling him a coward for avoiding direct confrontation with other Masters and openly criticizing his battle tactics. Lancer, however, shuts her down hard when she tries to scold Kayneth, and she immediately backs off. This moment doesn't escape Kayneth's notice; he interprets her deference to Lancer as a sign she's developing feelings for the Servant.
