Yuku is a naturally colored beagle with light brown, brown, and white fur and striking blue jewel eyes. He's usually seen wearing just a beret and a light blue ribbon around his neck.
As the Jewelpet of Intellect, Yuku stands out for his sharp mind and deductive skills—arguably the smartest of the bunch. In the first series, he's skeptical about relying too heavily on magic, partly because he's never been particularly good at it himself.
His role shifts across the different storylines. In the original Jewelpet, he awakens alongside the Prime Minister and Rinko's group as their Jewelpet partner. When Jewelpet Twinkle☆ rolls around, he partners with Gunho, a contestant in the Jewel Star Grand Prix, though he and his partner end up losing to Akari and Ruby.
Sunshine gives him one of his more interesting arcs—he's a painter who meets Ruby at a group date and convinces her to fake a marriage proposal to impress his grandparents. The scheme backfires when Ruby finds out he lied, but he genuinely falls for her anyway. He's spotted later trying to make a go of selling his paintings in the human world.
In Kira Deco, he's part of the ninja crew guarding a Japanese palace. Happiness has him on a personal quest to find a girl who helped him years ago, which turns out to be Taira. And in Lady Jewelpet, he's one of the dogs used to test the Petit Ladies' dog-walking abilities, paired with Charon for being the gentlest and most perceptive of the group.
