Hiroya Okuyama
Team Spiral's top driver, Okuyama goes by the racing alias "Zero 1" and is a true believer in Ikeda's "Zero Theory"—though he's way more cocky about it than Ikeda himself. Where Ikeda is measured and methodical, Okuyama's got this brash confidence in his own abilities that borders on arrogant. He wasn't exactly thrilled about the fog limiting what his car could do, and when Project D showed up, he couldn't even be bothered to greet them properly.
That confidence took a hit when Takumi Fujiwara beat him in a race. Takumi passed him early on—right after the first hairpin—and never looked back.
By the time of MF Ghost, Okuyama has shifted gears entirely. He now owns and runs Spiral Zero Autoshop, where he's built a reputation as a solid tuner. He's worked on some notable builds, including Kanata's 86 and Aiba's R35.
