Megumi is inseparably close to his sister Saki. When he found out she had supernatural powers, he didn't want her facing that alone—so he taught himself curse magic until he actually got good at it. Both siblings are drawn to wearing black; they find it calming. It's a bit ironic that his name means "blessing" when he's literally mastered the art of cursing people, and fans enjoy that contradiction.
Despite his skills, Megumi has never actually been shown cursing anyone in the manga. When the Prince Yuki Fan Club tried to use Saki against Tooru, Megumi helped scare them off just through his intimidating presence and by guessing their names. Saki later claimed they'd all be cursed within three days, which Megumi supposedly could do with nothing but their names—though whether she was actually serious or just bluffing remains ambiguous since the story never shows what happens next.
Like Saki, he's unnaturally mature for a middle schooler. Arisa once called him out for being far too lecherous in his comments, joking that he acts more like a perverted old man than a kid his age. Beyond the attitude, Megumi functions as the trio's unofficial bodyguard. He clearly admires Arisa and his sister deeply and goes out of his way to help them protect Tooru, seemingly devoted to the role.
