Duke Fleed is the last surviving prince of Planet Fleed, which was obliterated by King Vega's forces. After escaping to Earth, he adopted the human identity Daisuke Umon and swore to both protect his new home and hunt down Vega for what he did to his world.
Only a handful of people know the truth: Professor Umon (who adopted him and runs the Space Science Lab), Kouji Kabuto (the former Mazinger Z pilot), and farmer Danbei Makiba's two kids, Hikaru and Goro. To the rest of the world, Duke just looks like a normal guy working on Makiba's farm.
What really sets him apart is Grendizer, a super robot that gives him the firepower to actually fight back. Over the course of 74 episodes, Duke and Kouji—who basically becomes his right hand—go head-to-head with Vega's invasion attempts again and again. It's a story about exile, revenge, and finding where you belong.
