Kyou's biological father is basically defined by his resentment—he's angry about having a son cursed with the cat spirit, and that bitterness runs deep. He comes across as spiteful and doesn't really hide how he feels about it. The whole situation with Kyou being born into the Soma curse seems to have poisoned whatever paternal feelings he might've had.
