Sora Takenouchi
Age: 7 (Digimon movie part one), 11 (Digimon 01), 14 (Digimon 02), 17 (Digimon Tri.)
Birthday: October 25, 1988
Sora's the kind of person who naturally looks after everyone else—basically the group's mom. Her father's a professor at Kyoto University, which means he's rarely around, so she mostly grew up with just her mother, who runs a flower shop. She's partnered with Piyomon and carries the Crest of Love.
She spent her early childhood in Hikarigaoka and was actually in first grade with Taichi at Dai-san Elementary. She witnessed the famous Greymon vs. Parrotmon battle in 1995, right before her family relocated to Odaiba. Back then, she was genuinely tomboyish—the only girl on the school's soccer team alongside Taichi and Koushiro, and she had a maternal streak that made her especially protective of Mimi and Takeru. When Taichi and Yamato butted heads, she was usually the voice of reason keeping everyone grounded.
The turning point came during the Etemon arc. After Taichi and MetalGreymon vanished, Sora split off with Piyomon to search for him. When Pico Devimon told her she'd never know real love—that her Crest would never activate—it hit hard. Her father's constant absence and her mother's constant pressure to quit soccer and learn flower arranging instead had left real damage between them. Sora helped the other separated Chosen Children from the sidelines until Taichi convinced her to rejoin the group. During the final showdown with Vamdemon, watching Piyomon fight despite being injured made Sora realize she was repeating her mother's protective nature—and that realization, that her mom did love her, finally triggered her Crest. Garudamon evolved and drove Vamdemon back, and Sora finally made peace with her mother.
Later, when the Dark Masters split everyone up again, Sora got so protective she tried to shoulder everything alone and ended up trapped in a dark cave. Yamato and Jou had to pull her out of that one.
In May 2000, between the two series, Sora sacrificed her Crest powers to free the Four Holy Beasts. That cost meant Piyomon couldn't evolve to Perfect anymore. By the time 02 rolled around, she'd made real progress—embraced her feminine side, got closer to her mom, started learning flower arranging for real, and picked up tennis instead of soccer.
