Synopsis

Centuries ago, the Chinese zodiac spirits and their god made a pact to stay together forever. Because of this promise, members of the Souma family are bound to each other—they're literally possessed by these spirits and always drawn back together no matter what. But what was supposed to be a blessing has become a curse that traps them. Akito, the family head, genuinely believes he has a unique bond with all the other Soumas and clings to this idea desperately. Meanwhile, everyone else in the family lives in fear and isolation, kept in line through intimidation. Tooru Honda gets close to the Soumas and decides she's going to free them from this curse. Supported by her genuine friendships within the family, she pushes forward with her goal. But as she uncovers the truth about what's really going on, her resolve wavers. Time keeps slipping away, and Tooru has to figure out how to move forward despite her doubts, searching for some kind of peace on the other side of all this mess.
