Ichigo Momomiya's date with her crush Masaya Aoyama goes downhill fast when she passes out after seeing a mysterious cat enter her body. The next day, things get weirder—she's suddenly obsessed with fish and acting like a cat. When a monster attacks Masaya, Ichigo discovers she can transform into Mew Ichigo, a cat-eared magical girl, and saves him. Two researchers, Ryou Shirogane and Keiichiro Akasaka, then track her down and drop the truth: they deliberately injected her with Iriomote Cat DNA to create a magical girl strong enough to fight off an alien invasion. Ichigo reluctantly takes on the mission, but quickly realizes she can't handle it alone. Luckily, there are four other girls out there with the same powers. Now it's a race against time to find them before the aliens overrun the planet.
