Ryu Kaioh runs the temple in Heilong-Jiang, China and serves as mentor to Kaioh Retsu. He's known for being incredibly strict and disciplined, refusing to accept anything less than excellence from his disciples. When testing candidates for the Kaioh title, he demands absolute strength and skill—he initially rejected Retsu, only changing his mind after Kaioh Dorian vouched for him. Ryu Kaioh believes the next Kaioh should be genuinely worthy of the name, not just competent.
