Takagi Hitoshi

Takagi is best known for voicing Totoro in Studio Ghibli's My Neighbor Totoro, the role that stuck with him throughout his career. He started working as a voice actor in 1963 and joined the theater group Gekidan Kumo a year later. When Akutagawa Hiroshi left Kumo to establish his own company, Engeki Shuudan En, Takagi was among those who followed. He stayed with En until 2000, when he moved to 81 Produce for the final years of his career. He passed away in early 2004, just weeks before his 79th birthday.
