Jennie Kwan grew up in Los Angeles and started performing professionally at just 11 years old with the troupe Kids of the Century. She first got major recognition playing Kim, the lead role in the first National Touring Company of Miss Saigon—a part she landed after producer Cameron Mackintosh ran a worldwide search.
Her breakthrough came on TV as Samantha Woo, the quirky singing character on NBC's California Dreams, which ran for five seasons and made her a recognizable face to audiences. Beyond that, she's popped up in various shows like The Nanny, Family Matters, Beverly Hills 90210, and Oliver Stone's Wild Palms miniseries, plus the film Trojan War.
Kwan's also done substantial stage work. She spent two years touring with Faces of America, a solo show focused on diversity and tolerance, and was part of the original cast of the musical Bare before later appearing in Jewtopia—both eventually moved to off-Broadway.
In music, she was a member of Hollywood Records' vocal group Nobody's Angel, which earned a gold record after contributing two songs to the Princess Diaries soundtrack in 2002. She also helped create the pilot for a Nobody's Angel TV series that aired on ABC Family.
If you've watched Avatar: The Last Airbender on Nickelodeon, you've heard her voice as Suki. She's done voice work across the show, its video games, and has lent her voice to various anime and gaming projects over the years.
