Birthplace: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Sandra Marie Fox is a voice actor, singer, producer, and humanitarian who's spent over 30 years in entertainment. She started at Disney, performing as a singer, dancer, and comedian in hundreds of live stage shows before transitioning to voice work in Los Angeles in 1991.
Most people know her as Betty Boop—the character she's been officially voicing since 1991 for Universal Studios and King Syndicate. But that gig actually grew out of earlier work: starting in 1981, she performed as Betty in The Coconut Manor Orchestra, a 1920s jazz revue where she opened for legends like Cab Calloway, Ray Charles, and Dizzy Gillespie, touring the east coast for over a decade. Songs like "I Wanna Be Loved By You" and "Babyface" became her signature numbers. By the '90s, she was the official face (and voice) of Betty Boop, making appearances on Good Morning America and the Rosie O'Donnell Show, and recording for Universal Studios theme parks. Even now, her voice sings in The Betty Boop Store at Toon Town, and in 2012 she voiced Betty for Lancôme's global Hypnose Star campaign in Paris.
In animation, she's best known for voice work on The Simpsons, Futurama, and King of the Hill. She's also played characters in As Told by Ginger, Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi, Jay Jay the Jet Plane, and the LeapFrog Learning Series. Anime fans hear her in titles like AKIRA, Bleach, Naruto, and Ghost in the Shell, plus she sang theme songs for Magic Knight Rayearth and Kenshin. On camera, she's appeared on The Muppet Show and danced with Tommy Tune on Disney's July 4th Spectacular.
Beyond performing, Sandy's real passion is humanitarian work. She co-founded The Love Planet Foundation, a nonprofit focused on social and environmental education, and co-created H2Om, an eco-friendly bottled spring water that made waves in TIME Magazine and the Wall Street Journal. Over the past several years, she's produced documentaries like Water the Great Mystery and The Living Matrix, plus curated The Water Film Festival in Pasadena. She's spoken at the UN World Water Forum, the Hopi Water Braiding Conference, and regularly volunteers at schools to advocate for environmental sustainability and wellness.
She's a member of SAG-AFTRA, Women in Film, and various other industry guilds, and is married to voice actor Lex Lang.
