Nonaka grew up in Fukuoka, where she ran her high school's drama club. Back then, her real dream was performing in Takarazuka Revue—specifically playing male roles in that legendary all-female theater company. Voice acting wasn't even on her radar at first.
What changed things was YuYu Hakusho. Watching the series sparked her interest in voice acting, and she's been open about how she would've preferred straight acting if her height hadn't been a factor. After high school, she enrolled in the 21st class at Aoni's Tokyo voice acting school and never looked back.
She's had a steady presence in voice work and media. She contributes a regular column called "Ai-pon no O'Toriyose Hyaku Sen" to Seiyū Animedia magazine, and she's appeared on Anison Plus multiple times since the show launched in 2008. In 2009, she picked up level 2 aromatherapy certification, which she announced through her blog and a web radio show.
On August 16, 2017, she got married to someone outside the voice acting industry. She announced the news a few days later on her blog and YouTube. They have two kids together.
