Anri Katsu
Hometown: Tokyo, Japan
Blood type: A
Agent: Ken Production
Katsu's into singing, composing, guitar, bass, drums—basically the full musician toolkit—with a particular love for 60s and 70s rock. Outside of work, he's into movies, fishing, and ramen.
He's best known in voice acting circles for taking over the role of Takashi Akaboshi in the anime GIZOKU back in 2001, replacing Yuusuke Ito. That gig came with membership in the seiyuu unit G.I.zoku, though it's since disbanded. He was also part of another defunct seiyuu group called Revolver.
These days, Katsu plays guitar and handles vocals for the indie band big fat duck.
Beyond the named roles, he's done tons of background and minor voice work across anime like Initial D, Jyu Oh Sei, Paprika, and Yakitate!! Japan, plus occasional bit parts in shows like Ichigo 100% and Shadow Star Narutaru.
His work extends well beyond anime. He's appeared in the live-action film Wonderful World, voiced characters across numerous CD dramas—everything from Junai Romantica to Toaru Majutsu no Index—and lent his voice to video games including The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (as Ghirahim) and Subarashiki Kono Sekai. He's also done extensive dubbing work for foreign TV shows and films, from Heroes and Jonas to Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
From April 2008 to March 2009, he hosted NHK's satellite anime theatre as a Navigator.
