Steve Blum is an American voice actor best known for his work in anime dubs and video games. If you grew up watching Cartoon Network's Toonami block, you'd recognize his voice as TOM, the show's iconic robotic host. He's also the guy behind 7-Eleven's "Oh thank heaven" jingle in their TV and radio spots, and he's collaborated with Vic Mignogna on parody versions of Budweiser's "Real American Heroes" commercials.
He's been a working voice actor for decades, starting out on early anime like Guyver and Giant Robo and eventually voicing hundreds of characters across basically every medium imaginable. What's unusual about Blum's path into voice acting is that he didn't follow the typical industry pipeline—before fully committing to voice work, he did everything from working retail at bookstores and pet shops to driving delivery trucks and managing warehouses. He also spent time as a copywriter and marketing executive for a sci-fi film company, worked in ADR script writing, and played music on the side.
Blum won a Staff Choice award for Best Male Lead Vocal Performance in an Anime Movie/Special at the 4th Annual BTVA Anime Dub Awards. He's married to fellow voice actor Mary Elizabeth McGlynn, who voiced Julia in Cowboy Bebop.
