Victor Mignogna was born in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, and grew up passionate about drama, film, and music. He majored in Film and spent roughly a decade doing independent film work and composing music for commercials, TV, and movies before diving into voice acting.
His anime dubbing career started in 1998 when a coworker connected him with ADV Films to voice Vega in "Street Fighter 2." He enjoyed the work enough to stick around, and scored his first lead role as Gawl in "Generator Gawl." Eventually he began working for FUNimation as well, relocating from Houston to Los Angeles in late 2008 to focus on that studio full-time.
Beyond voice acting, Mignogna has built a parallel music career, releasing five albums of original material: Selah (piano compositions), Metafiction (which includes anime-related tracks like "Nothing I Won't Give" from Fullmetal Alchemist), Soldier A, If These Walls Could Talk, and a Christmas album. A remix album was scheduled for early 2010, featuring both reworked versions of his own songs and licensed covers like an English take on the Fullmetal Alchemist Brothers Theme.
He's racked up roughly 150 anime and video game credits. Fans and the industry recognize him most for Edward Elric in Fullmetal Alchemist—which earned him a Best Actor award at the American-Anime Awards—plus roles like Tamaki Suoh in Ouran High School Host Club, Broly in Dragon Ball Z, and Fai D. Flowrite in Tsubasa Chronicle. He also won a People's Choice BTVA award for Best Male Lead Vocal Performance. His work on the One Piece dub theme is particularly notable among FUNimation fans.
Mignogna made his directorial debut on "Claymore," where he also acted as Rigaldo, and created and starred in the fan-beloved Star Trek Continues web series. He appeared on Star Search in 1993 performing "Worth Waiting For."
He's engaged to Michele Specht and counts Broly and Edward Elric among his favorite roles. His favorite movie is Star Wars.
